Young Carers trip to Swanage

Ray Smith MBE, Honorary Carers' Champion for the Borough of Poole, organised a boat trip on Tuesday 25th August from Poole Quay to Swanage for nearly 60 Young Carers. Each of these wonderful young people, aged from 6 to 16, cares for one or more members of their family who need a helping hand.
Thanks to the generosity of supporters, including Poole Rotary Club and many individuals and businesses, funds are raised for several trips and parties each year.

The boat trip included four hours in Swanage, some spent over a splendid lunch in Wilkins Bakery Restaurant and some in the park overlooking Swanage Bay. Thanks to Maggie and her team from Poole Social Services, and the supporters and friends who came along to enjoy the day, everybody had a great time and nobody got lost or left behind!

"One photo shows Deputy Mayor Joyce Lavender addressing the Young Carers at lunch time, with Ray Smith. The other shows the friends having a laugh - and there were plenty of those - on Swanage Pier, before returning to Poole with Blue Line Cruises.
