Gould Trust

The Rotary Club of Poole has a separate “ring-fenced” charitable fund called the Gould Trust.

This was established by the will of Muriel Gould, who died on the 27th March 1984, in memory of her late husband “Duggie” Gould , who for many years was a master at Poole Grammar School. They left no children.

The bequest was to “ The Rotary Club of Poole to be spent as the club shall in its absolute discretion think fit in my memory in any way for the benefit either of the town of Poole or for the residents thereof or for any charitable beneficiary in Poole ”.

In practise grants of the order of £200 are made to young men or women resident in the Borough of Poole to enable them to travel abroad to improve their education or to carry out voluntary work overseas through organised charities.
