The Falklands WarPresentation to Terry Whitehouse
In September 2007, The Poole Rotary Club raised £3,500 for the Royal Marines Association and the SBS Association by way of a dinner at the Royal Motor Yacht Club in Poole.
This commemorated the re-taking of the Falkland Islands, 25 years before. An auction of various items was held, which included a First-Day Cover of Falklands commemorative postage stamps, designed by John Batchelor of Wimborne. The successful bidder returned the stamps and other items so that they could be given to a Falklands veteran, to be nominated by the Royal Marines Association. On the 17th June 2008, these items were presented to Tery Whitehouse by the President of The Rotary Club of Poole, Dr Tony Pawley. Terry Whitehouse Terry has a distinguished military record in the Royal Navy and the Royal Marines, however he has suffered from long-term effects of battle. Those present at the presentation were (left to right in photo below) John Batchelor (Stamp Designer), Peter Hibbitt (guest), Terry Whitehouse (Falklands Veteran), Tony Pawley, and Keith Sanders (Royal Marines Association)
Everyone agreed that Terry is a very worthy recipient.
