Vocational Sub-Committee

Nursing Awards for Excellence

Presented annually this cash Award is given to encourage the career development of the Auxillary nursing staff of Poole Hospital and to recognise a special contribution to patient care.

2010

Poole Rotary President Peter Brooks, with Vocational Chairman Gordon Alder,  presenting the Rotary Award for Excellence together with a cheque for £100 to Jarek Sikora.  Jarek is a remarkable young man who only arrived from Poland three years ago with limited English.  He has passed his NVQ level 2 in Health & Social Care,  while working in the coronary care unit at Poole Hospital NHS Trust.  He is about to start on the Advanced Apprenticeship in Health Care NVQ level 3 with the aim of eventually qualifying with a degree in Nursing.

2009

President Simon Walsham presented the Poole Rotary Award for Nursing Excellence, at the Poole Hospital Awards Presentation Ceremony, to Maureen Hawkins who works as a Senior Auxillary Nurse on the Emergency Care Unit on Ansty Ward.

2008

A presentation evening took place at Poole General Hospital during which the Rotary Club of Poole Nursing Award for Excellence was made, not to one but to two members of the nursing staff. As it was found impossible to choose between them, the award was divided .

The photos below show the Past President of the Club, Tony Pawley making the presentation to the two deserving winners.
