Programme for 2009

All is in hand for the new Rotary year. A dedicated team has been appointed and a hectic programme has been devised for members between now and the end of June 2009.

We plan to arrange several Vocational visits and among the planned venues are: A conducted tour of Poundbury, visit to the Old Engine Shed Portland and the Tenovus Laboratories Southampton.

Arrangements for Youth Speaks (the National Competition for public speaking) are well underway with the local heats due to be held in January 2009 at Ashdown School followed by District, Regional and National finals in April, in London.

We are pleased that we will present awards at Poole General Hospital this year for Nursing Excellence.

The club has been approached by Poole High School to assist in a series of Mock Interviews for those students about to leave and seek full time employment for the first time. Rotarians and their wives will take part and will conduct interviews with the 5th year students. We feel the Rotarians will learn as much as the students.

A busy year ahead when combined with visits to the theatre. We are sure the next year will disappear as quickly as the last!
